Young Irish Filmmakers & Animators Network

On Thursday 31st October, the National Youth Film & Animation Network was launched. We had over 150 young creatives, festivals, colleges and industry professionals attending on the day. Young filmmakers, young animators and youth advocates enjoyed a fantastic day of connecting, sharing, learning, networking and of course screenings! If you couldn’t make it on the day but would like to join the network, you can cntact Sorcha Hyland at with any questions.

Through this work, YIFM is consolidating and expanding the pre-existing grassroots network of diverse youth film/animation sites, events and youth practitioners.  We are researching and reporting on what young people need and want to better cultivate strategic relationships with key stakeholders and funders to build culturally responsive and connected communities of practice.

YIFM will co-create a sustainable National Youth Film and Animation Network (NYFAN) led by youth members in partnership with film/animation practitioners and educators, youth arts and youth work professionals, and creative arts and industry stakeholders. The NYFAN aims to offer a host of online and in-person services to support youth practitioners, their creative directors and adult allies.

The aim of this initiative is to research, develop and support a national network of youth film/animation hubs and activities with and for young and emerging filmmakers and animators across Ireland.
