Young Film Maker of the Year 2015 at Fresh Film Festival
“Taking part in the NYFS 2014 was the best decision in regards to filmmaking that I ever made. It gave me the gave me the opportunity to work with interesting people, to work with professional equipment on a real film set and gain insight in the world of filmmaking from college mentors and industry professionals. Most importantly it gave me the confidence to make my own films afterwards, to collaberate with the friends I made on the course and to choose filmmaking as the thing I want to do for the rest of my life”

INTENSIVE TRAINING AND PRODUCTION
The film school will put young people through their paces with industry masterclasses, practical training workshops and intensive shooting days. There will be scriptwriting and professional masterclasses at the Easter camp to give you an insight into the workings of the industry. These will be followed up by a residential Film Camp which will teach you about how to work as a film crew, working with actors, and also practical sessions working with professional equipment such as camera, lighting and sound. The camp will finish with a masterclass in post production giving students the chance to edit their own masterpiece!
INDUSTRY MASTERCLASSES AND PROFESSIONAL MENTORS
This year the National Youth Film School (NYFS) has teamed up with all of the representative bodies for the Irish Film Industry. The Irish Film Board, IADT Dun Laoghaire, Screen Training Ireland, Screen Directors Guild, Screen Producers Ireland, Writers Guild of Ireland and Filmbase have all agreed to help and support the work of Young Irish Film Makers in making the film school a huge success. This means we have access to the best people and equipment the industry has to offer.
SCREENPLAYS FROM YOUNG WRITERS
This year we are going to work with the best young talent out there to mentor them through the writing process. So watch this space and you never know who’s script you might be working on… it could be yours!
PREMIERE & PORTFOLIO WORKSHOPS
What’s the point of making a movie if you can’t celebrate. That’s why we are holding an industry premiere to screen the work of The National Youth Film School in Autumn 2017. We are also working with The National Film School at IADT to guide you through the portfolio process in preparation for college
