YIFM members take part in weekly filmmaking workshops where they get the chance to devise, write and produce their own work. Members get to explore scriptwriting, work with professional cameras, lighting and sound, and edit their movies right here in our YIFM Studios.
These workshops are where it all began for Young Irish Film Makers. Way back in 1991, Mike Kelly started an after school programme for young people in Kilkenny to make films and have fun. We have been doing that ever since and the after school workshops remain the core of our work with young creative people.
Regular workshops give the members a chance to bond as a team, explore their creativity and have fun together while doing it. YIFM staff work closely with the young people to develop their skills over time working on group projects and mentoring them through individual portfolios.
After School Workshops are run during the school terms at our studios in Kilkenny for young people from Kilkenny and the surrounding areas.
Timetable
- Monday 4:30 – 6:30pm – Intermediates
- Tuesday 4:00 – 6:00pm – Juniors
- Wednesday 4:30 – 6:30pm – Seniors
- Thursday 4:30 – 6:30pm – Seniors
